How many Sri
Lankans have been fired and let go by Dr. Walter
Jayasinghe was the first question that ran across my
mind as I read the complaint filed by Ms. Mendoza on
12/12/2007. Case #BC382100 (you can find the details
by clicking here). I will also be
posting the entire complaint in pdf format as soon
as I can obtain some funds to pay for it. In the
compliant Ms. Mendoza alleges that she worked for
Dr. Jayasinghe since 2002 and she was paid by
various organization/entities owned by Dr. Walter
Jayasinghe stating "...at the whim of defendant
Jayasinghe, individually, dependent on cash flow
and other unknown factors."
Ms. Mendoza also alleges that she was fired one week after she informed Dr. Jayasinghe of her pregnancy. Furthermore Ms. Mendoza also alleges that Dr. Jayasinghe made and oral contract with her. Seems like Dr. Jayasinghe loves oral contracts. I wonder why it is so difficult for him to sign a contract?
The complaint also quotes Dilan/Delon Jayasinghe the son of Dr. Jayasinghe, stating "YOUR PREGNANT" "YOU CAN'T WORK HERE". Looks like a chip off the old block. Others even feel that Delon (Jayasinghe, Jayasinha - he changes his name frequently) is even more dangerous than his father. I for one has witnessed Dr. Jayasinghe lecturing Delon on ethics. Imagine that.
So how many Sri Lankan women have been fired in the is manner is the question at hand? and how many workers have been let go after all the verbal abuse and other types of abuse inflicted by Dr. Jayasinghe?
And if you ask around you might find out the circumstances of Ms. Shirani Stanislaus in the cycle of firing/laying off employees. Even more interesting is how she obtained the position she has now in all of Dr. Jayasinghe's entities.
